Monika Arnold, Manager of Community Relations and Business Development Lafourche Parish Government, Louisiana Office of Broadband Development and Connectivity, REV host orientation for upcoming high speed internet project\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Granting Unserved Municipalities Broadband Opportunities (GUMBO) partnership grant to provide enhanced internet options for Lafourche Parish resident<\/span><\/i> Mathews, La.<\/span><\/b> REV<\/span><\/a>\/<\/span>REV Business<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Lafourche Parish Government<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>ConnectLA\/Office of Broadband Development and Connectivity<\/span><\/a> recently hosted an informational session for Lafourche stakeholders at the Mathews Government Complex (4876 LA-1, Mathews, La.).\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n During the orientation, details were shared about the Office of Broadband-funded partnership project between parish government and the local internet provider. Specifics regarding construction timelines, internet\/data speeds available to residents and geographic areas to be served were shared with locals in attendance.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Through this public-private collaboration, Lafourche Parish citizens residing along a rural stretch of Louisiana Highway 308 (LA 308) known as Lafourche Crossing will soon have access to reliable, high speed, fiber-based internet.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n A project proposal (created in partnership between Lafourche Parish Government and REV) earned funding from the Office of Broadband and Connectivity\u2019s grants program \u2013 known as Granting Unserved Municipalities Broadband Opportunities or GUMBO grants.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cJust like throughout the recovery and response following Hurricane Ida, REV continues to be a great and local community partner for our parish\u2019s residents,\u201d said Lafourche Parish President Archie Chaisson. \u201cWe\u2019re excited about this GUMBO grant and we look forward to the opportunities associated with this new partnership with REV and our state\u2019s Office of Broadband.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cA fast, reliable internet connection impacts everyone and everything \u2013 from private and public sectors to communities, farmers, teachers and students,\u201d said Veneeth Iyengar, Office of Broadband Development and Connectivity\u2019s executive director. \u201cProjects like this represent a choice for communities looking for reliable connectivity.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re very happy to enter into this public-private partnership with this community that has meant so much to us for over 80 years,\u201d said Josh Descant, CEO of REV\/REV Business. \u201cBy extending our reach with this project, we\u2019re proud to offer this rural community the most advanced broadband network available anywhere.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n REV\/REV Business serves residences and businesses in various South Louisiana communities, including Ascension Parish, East Baton Rouge Parish, Grand Isle, Iberville Parish, Lafourche Parish, Livingston Parish, St. James Parish, St. John the Baptist Parish and Terrebonne Parish.
